Selerix Publishes Inaugural Employee Benefits Survey, Showcasing the Critical Importance of Benefits Satisfaction

Findings show benefits as top driver of employee trust and retention and underscores need for clear and transparent benefits communication and personalization.

MCKINNEY, TEXAS — (September 16, 2025) — Selerix, a leading provider of benefits administration and ACA compliance solutions, today announced the release of its first annual Selerix Employee Benefits Survey, titled The Human Economics of Employee Benefits.

The report offers a comprehensive look at how employees truly experience benefits and reveals that while most employers are investing in benefits, too many employees remain confused, disengaged, or unsupported by the experience.

The findings underscore a critical truth: the value of benefits isn’t only in what’s offered, but also in how clearly and personally the experience is delivered.

Key insights include:

  • Benefits shape job decisions — 73% say benefits matter as much or more than salary, and 38% have declined a job because of a poor benefits offering.
  • Benefits satisfaction drives loyalty and trust — Employees satisfied with their benefits are 5x more likely to stay and 3.5x more likely to trust their employer.
  • Personalization multiplies impact — Employees who feel their benefits are personalized are 3x more likely to report high satisfaction and confidence.
  • Confusion is costly — 39% delayed or skipped care due to uncertainty, and 1 in 5 missed work to resolve benefits issues.
  • Compliance education is falling short — Only 39% of ACA-eligible and 33% of COBRA-eligible employees said the guidance they received was clear.

“Benefits aren’t failing because companies are stingy — they’re failing because the experience is broken,” said Tim Pratte, CEO of Selerix. “When employees don’t understand their benefits, they feel less supported. This research shows that when benefits feel personal and clear, everything changes: people stick around, trust grows, and organizations are stronger. There are real human economics of benefits, and when done right, employers can see a big return.”

The survey highlights urgent opportunities for employers to close gaps in communication, personalize the benefits experience, and strengthen compliance education. It also reinforces the role of benefits as both a retention lever and a reflection of organizational culture and care.

Mr. Pratte continued, “These findings present an ideal opportunity for brokers, carriers, and their clients to have the important conversations around benefits communication and personalization that will lead to increased trust, retention and satisfaction.”

The Selerix Employee Benefits Survey was conducted in June 2025 among 685 U.S. employees across industries, roles, and income levels. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
