Employee Spotlight: Daniel Kim | Product Operations Lead | Product Manager

| Lori Ralston

Daniel Kim brings curiosity and problem-solving skills to his Product Management role at Selerix Systems. With several years of experience in product management, Daniel works closely with clients and internal teams to build solutions that improve the user experience. In this spotlight, he shares his career path, proudest accomplishments, and a few fun facts.

Talk to us about your professional background before Selerix. What kind of career did you lead?
My background in product spans five to six years. It started in tech recruiting, where curiosity about the product side grew after talking with developers. That interest led to a coding boot camp, freelancing, and eventually a move into product management.

What is your current role, and how long have you been with the organization?
At Selerix for about a year now, I work between clients, stakeholders, and engineering teams to identify pain points, shape solutions, and define the product roadmap.

How would you describe your role in one sentence?
My role is to determine what we should build, explain why it matters, and collaborate with different teams to bring it to life.

Do you have a favorite Selerix memory?
Back in November 2025, we did a canned food drive, and the company ended up doubling our goal. It was one of those moments where you really feel like you’re making a difference.

What is a work accomplishment you are especially proud of?
Last year we did many projects, but we revamped Engage to be more user-friendly and developed Content Assist, our AI-powered engagement assistant.

What is something most coworkers would be surprised to learn about you?
I competed nationally for Kendo (Japanese fencing) in high school and also used to breakdance.

Just for Fun

Outside of work, what kind of hobbies do you have?
Spend most of my time at Jiu-jitsu or the gym.

What snack food can you not resist?
Eating all the snacks, but ice cream is my favorite.

What’s something you love that everyone else dislikes?
Reading articles, being in silence, and strategic games like chess.

If you weren’t in this profession, what would you do?
Working with my hands and building things. Maybe something in metal or woodworking.

Have you met anyone famous?
No, but I probably wouldn’t recognize them.

What is the most rebellious thing you did as a teenager?
My brother and I “borrowed” my parents’ car one night and went for a joyride when we were really young. We didn’t have a license, and we went everywhere. We never told them.

What is your favorite movie and why?
Gladiator. The music and cinematography are amazing. It’s the perfect movie in my opinion.

If you had a warning label, what would you say?
Promise I’m not mad, even if I look like it.

What would you sing at karaoke night?
Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.

Soda or pop?
Soda.

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
I have two complete opposites: chilling and eating good food, or trying fun new things (skydiving, break room, etc).

What is a place you have visited that left a lasting impression on you?
Croatia, it feels like you’re living in a picture.

What is a fun or meaningful tradition you have with family or friends?
We have a family tradition of buffet-style food, and we play a bunch of board games. We do it regularly. My entire family is super competitive.

If you could instantly become an expert at something new, what would it be?
 Artificial Intelligence/Robotics.

Early bird or night owl?
 Night owl
