One Platform. More Value:
Today’s Meet a Vendor webinar hosted by Celerix. I’m Kristi Doe, Shortlisters Meet a Vendor webinar moderator, excuse me, and thank you so much for joining us today. Before I turn things over to today’s presenter, I’d like to review a few quick housekeeping items, especially for those of you who may be first time attendees. Our Meet A Vendor webinars take place on Wednesdays at one pm Central Time. We use a condensed format of thirty minutes and that includes a twenty five minute presentation followed by five minutes of questions. To submit a question, you should see a little box with a question mark in it at the top of your screen. Just go ahead and pull that down, type it in, and we’ll get to as many of those as we can during the time that remains after the presentation. For our subscribers, our Meet A Vendor webinars are recorded and uploaded onto the platform, so if you head over to Solirix’s vendor profile in the system, you can access it there. So with that, I am going to hand things over to today’s presenter. We have Ruthie Gray, Chief Product Officer with Solirix. Thanks, Christy. I appreciate it. Really happy to be here with Shortlister today. Happy to talk to you and introduce you to Solirix. Built for brokers, one platform for our benefits administration and ACA. As Chrissy said, I’m Ruthie Graham, Chief Product Officer. I’ve been with Salerix about seventeen years, so I know all the secrets. So today I really want to talk about what Salerix is and who we are. We’re really purpose built for that mid to large employer with genuine complexity. Multiple populations, union rules, variable pay cycles, variable hour employees, core and voluntary mix, this is where we really shine and where a lot of other platforms break down for your clients. If you have clients who are outgrowing their current platforms, who are managing ACA manually in spreadsheets, this twenty five minute presentation will really show you why Salerix belongs on your short list. So we’re not a startup. If you haven’t heard of Solarix before, we’re not a startup. We’ve been around. We’re an established platform with deep integrations. We have enrolled over fourteen million employees, twenty six thousand plus employer groups, nineteen billion of core and voluntary premium live on our site with over a thousand integrations. On the ACA side, one in four ALEs in America do their ACA filing through Solarix. That’s over nineteen million employees. That’s seven point eight million in ten ninety fives. And we’ve mitigated over six hundred and fifty million in penalties. So this isn’t something that’s just been around for a little while. We’re out here, we’re established, and we may be exactly what your clients need. I want to switch to a demo now. I’m going to show you a little bit of our enrollment platform, a little bit of our administration, and then a little bit of our ACA. So I’m very excited to get the opportunity here. So let me just take a little second to switch over. Okay. We are going to start with enrollment. Now log in as an employee. When an employee first logs in, they land on our employee portal. On this employee portal, they can see if they had any current benefits that they’re already enrolled in. They actually have the opportunity to upload their benefit cards to this if they want. They can use this as a place to store that data. If they’re in an enrollment window, they have a link to enroll now. If they’re not, if they’re coming in outside this time, then they have a link where they can get to a read only view of the platform if they’d like to. They have links to handle all of their life events that might happen during the course of the year if this is set up on the case. I need need to modify coverage. Want to, you know, I had a dependent lost or gained coverage. I lost Medicaid or any kind of life events that are there. And if they’re using part of our messaging platform, which I’ll talk about a little bit later, the messages will live here also. We also have places for other tiles that can be here set up for different integrations, different options, abilities to show FSA balances, etc, depending on what integrations are available in the case. But right now, we’re going to just jump right into the enrollment. So, the first thing we show in enrollment is we land on our welcome page where it’s going to explain to them how to enroll. But one thing I want to talk about while we get there is some of the AI options we have available. So we want to be able to help our employees with answering any questions they have during the enrollment. Celerix is really about the benefits of education. You’ll see that in a few different employees. And one of the things we have for that is Benefit Assist. Benefit Assist is AI that is loaded with information specific to any individual case. This is going to be loaded with the benefits that each individual employee is eligible for. So, if an employee asking questions, they’re only going to get their questions answered based on what executives are eligible for versus maybe a part time employee or employees in different locations that have different eligibilities. We’ll only get those questions answered based on what they have eligible to them. So that’s one of the first ways that we provide some benefits education as part of our enrollment experience. So for this employee, I’m going to say that Lee is in excellent health and his wife Joy is in moderate health, because she’s a smoker. So that’s all the questions I have to answer. You know, there are some decision support platforms I’ve seen that feel a little intrusive, to be honest. You know, you’re asking so many questions, you’re afraid you’re gonna have to upload pictures of your kids and where you live and get all that. But we’re really just asking a couple of questions for you. At that point, our BenefitsGenius is going to do some calculations against what’s available in the case, and they’re going to make a recommendation. For this one, BenefitsGenius has recommended the PPO plan rather than the high deductible health plan. The PPO with FSA rather than the high deductible health plan with HSA. And we can see that it’s also recommending our benefits enhancer bundle, which is a bundle package of a critical illness and an accident plan, and the good version of our hospital plan. The employee will save the option that they want to go with and then as they move forward, then they’ll see the options that have been recommended to them highlighted for them. Really, the other thing I want to call out here about enrollment, not going spend a lot of time on enrollment because you’ve seen enrollment platforms before, but the other thing I want to highlight is the videos that we have available. We’re really about that benefits education. We want to make sure that employees understand their benefits Utilization is key, especially on things that they might not see on a regular basis, like a hospital indemnity. We really see increased participation with this. As a matter of fact, when we turn on our videos and BenefitsGenius on case, we see on average thirty five percent participation for voluntary plans, which is way higher than you on most self-service cases. So that’s really a key differentiator that we have here. If you’re wanting increased voluntary enrollment, reduced HR call volume, improved employee satisfaction scores, these are all things that we can bring to your clients through using us for your enrollment and benefits administration. At this point, I’m going to bounce over to some a little bit on the administrative platforms. Let me bring a different screen over here. On the administrative platform, we really strive to make life easier for HR. I’m Chief Product Officer. One of the things I think about on a regular basis is how I can make life easier for HR. Is what we’re doing in the system make life easier for Betty in HR? So everything we’re doing in here is how can we make things better for her, easier for her to find what she needs. So, one of those things is our employer dashboard. It allows obviously a place for them to look up employees, get enrollment status across the board, run frequently used reports. Recommend some reports and then they can favorite others that they might like to have. We show them anything that they might have pending, any tasks that they might need to run. In this case, I’ve got some employees that are pending some EOI that they might need to review, if there’s anything in follow-up. If there’s any new hires that they might want to see what those new hire enrollment status are. We let them see reports that might be running and maybe some that might have had a failure in delivery. Reasons a report might fail delivery, maybe an FTP site is down, maybe an API connection had an issue somewhere. In general, we have a lot of tracking we have for the reports here, but what we show them is any issues that happened over the last day so they can check what’s going on. Plus we send emails about these issues as well. They can also see the enrollment status of any individual plan. So lots of good information here for the administrator as they’re looking into things. This also gives you as a broker some oversight into the cases. Let’s go ahead and look up Mr. Lee that we’ve used in his enrollment so you can see how administrators can look up employee information. This view of our employee information was actually developed after talking to a lot of HR managers, a lot of benefits managers. If you’ve seen Solaris in the past, you may not have seen this view. We used to have a different view for looking up employees that was very data driven, very data heavy, lots lots and lots of tabs, lots and lots of fields. And then we heard from HR managers that it was too complex for them. There is a good reason for us to have all that data, but it really wasn’t key for our HR managers. So we developed this that’s called HRX or HR experience. What I heard from them is they wanted one view where they could look up everything about the employee. So on this one page, we have an overview where they can see their contact information, their employment information, one glance at all of their benefits and who’s covered on one page, a history of that. So I can see that Lee here, at this point he has the employee plus spouse, but before he just had employee only. I can look through all the benefits. I can jump to different sections such as looking at what dependents Lee has on his record, what forms he might have signed at any one point. We have a history tab that allows them to see everything that has happened on this employee, a full history. And when I say everything, it means every time they’ve been enrolled, every time they had any kind of administrative changes, every time this employee went on a file, every time this employee maybe got a message from the system or from our communications system, any kind of enrollment status changes, any kind of dependence added. All the history is in one place and can be filtered by different values. So if they’re only looking for certain kinds of changes, they can see it see it. But we we moved all of our history to one place. And for processing life events, we tried to make it super easy. I know a lot of other platforms require that when HR is trying to process some of the life events, they have to jump through a lot of hoops. We try to make that very easy for them. For example, here I’m going process a newborn for Lee. So let’s say Lee’s had a joyous event that he is going to add a new child to his coverage. Let’s go ahead and add in little child for him, Robbie Raffi Adderholt, who was born in May And oops, two things that Robbie can either say they’re going to enroll themselves or they’re going to send it over for self enroll Lee to handle it himself. And it looks like Robbie’s not eligible for anything in this case, so let me back up and do a different life event real quick. We’re not going be joyous anymore. We’re going to be sad. We’re going to remove the spouse. We’re going have a divorce. There we go. So we’re going to be removing the spouse from our medical and dental coverage. And what we can see really clearly as an HR user is that the current cost, the difference in the cost, what the employee’s new cost will be. And real quickly, they can just make that change, See the new summary of elections, and they’re complete. You know, your clients are we don’t want your clients calling you because things are difficult to do. We want your clients to be able to handle things on their own easily. We want them to be able to handle everything. Everything is quite easy for them in the system. We’ve also added something, another AI tool called HR Assist. This is AI chat assist for the HR user in the platform. So they can ask questions of things like how do I process a life event? When we’ll walk them through step by step. How do I look up deductions? How do I let the CEO enrolled who didn’t enroll before the last day of open enrollment? We always see something like that happens, and it’s always a high level executive who’s done it. So, they can get those questions answered for them in here as well very easily through our AI chat. Our platform also has over a thousand data integrations, whether those are files or APIs. You’re not going to have a situation where we can’t get data to someone. Your clients are not going to be calling you saying that we can’t get payroll data over, that they’re going to jump through hoops to get their payroll data. We handle all that. Over a thousand integrations already in place. And if we don’t, if you have to find one we don’t have, we build it with no problem and pretty quickly. The last thing I wanna talk about today since spend a bit of time on is ACA. I’m gonna switch cases for this a little bit. So, where really we have a differentiator is, Solaris has built in ACA processing. It lives in the same system that your benefits administration does. What’s really key about that is the enrollment data is what feeds ACA data. In other platforms that handle ACA, you’re having to export data from payroll, export data from an enrollment platform, bring that into something to file for your ACA. We have all that already and that really is what saves a lot of work because ninety percent of the data that is needed for that ACA filing is already in VENSelect. If your clients have been enrolling on our platform year round, then when it comes time for their ACA filing, that data is already here. They’re not spending February reconciling five systems to generate their ten ninety five Cs. The work is already done. So, just showing an example, let me get to an employee here with variable hours. Jump down to their work history. Data like this where employees change change job positions. If they hadn’t been enrolling in this platform to have this year round and know those payroll changes, their enrollment changes, this is very difficult for a system to reconcile unless it’s already here. We already have this here for these variable hour employees. We can track this, so it’s already available to them. Knowing this is ninety percent of the work. Once we have that, then we have a built in platform with our ACA. Allows them to walk through steps to get their filing. The first one is that they run through an ACA summary. I’m not going to go through all of these steps, but just to show you the steps. They can run an ACA summary report. And let me bring up one of those for you real quick. We run these for our employees quarterly. This report will show them quarterly what the ten ninety five’s will look like, what the ten ninety four’s will look like, and we will highlight any errors. So this employee here has been highlighted. You can see they don’t have an employee address. We bring that up on a warnings tab. So if you have, you know, seven thousand five hundred issues, this would all show up on a warnings tab so you can be keeping your data clean throughout the year. These warnings could be things like missing addresses, could be things like invalid social security numbers perhaps were uploaded initially when the clients came in. It could be showing where the trends are, where people weren’t offered coverage that should have been. So, you can see where those penalties may be coming in before you get to the time of actually filing. So this ACA summary report actually is very, very key to the process. And actually, we recently won a Stevie Award for this ACA summary report as a key product, in the market. So we’re very proud of that. Once they run that summary report, we can generate the ten ninety fives directly in the system. We store that on the employee record, and we can email those out to the employees as well. We can submit directly to the IRS directly here in the system. And if there’s any issues that come back, we can upload the corrections and handle the entire process here. And this view is available to HR as well and to you as a broker, so you can see what that status is at any time. Additionally, we have a dashboard that shows a summary across all of the EINs in a case because obviously many employers have multiple EINs where they can see the status of all of the EINs in their filing during the course of the filing system. So really the key is from enrollment data to IRS confirmation, it’s all in one platform. There’s not any handoffs, there’s not any data translation, there’s no reconciliation. It all lives here. Your benefits live here, your ACA should as well. A few other core services we offer in addition to enrollment administration at ACA, communications. So we have a platform called Select Engage. Solaris Engage offers, employee communications. Can base those communications and the audience building on that on a data point we have in the system. So imagine you want to target, a set of employees who are in a certain location, certain eligibility, who are offered a benefit in the past, eligible for a benefit, who maybe didn’t elect it. We can send messages about that benefit directly to that set of employees. We can also send messages based on triggered events that we see in the system, such as when a new hire comes into the system, when an employee is rehired maybe, a termination, a salary change. Messages can be scheduled and set up in advance so that HR doesn’t have to worry about it. Imagine taking that off of your client’s hands that they don’t have to worry about capturing every new hire, every rehire, every change in employee status when they might want to send an email. It’s already set up. Even for things like birthdays and work anniversaries, there’s pizza in the break room, all that can be handled through Solaris Engage. We also offer COBRA, HSA, and FSA services. ACA, in addition to the integrated ACA that I just spoke about, also have a standalone ACA platform. And all this is aimed at really simplifying your benefits administration. So really with that, the idea is that we are one platform. It’s going to work for you. We’re trying to simplify everything and improve your client experience and streamline it across multiple systems for you. With that, I think we’re ready for your Q and A. Perfect. Sorry, I was having a problem unmuting myself. That was great, Ruthie. And I learned a lot myself about Solarix. I was really impressed with how broad scoped, but simple it seemed like your offerings are. So from the, you know, enrollments admin, which like you said, have seen a lot of enrollment platforms, right? Because everybody who does something like this has to have an enrollment platform. But it seemed really simple to me. I really like because I think a lot of employees are lost with what to do and where to go and they’re not computer savvy right but I like that you do education in there because a lot of people don’t know the difference between an FSA and an HSA a right I mean so there has to be an education piece and then I also liked how complete the employee history is so that for the administrator for the employee themselves to remember when did I go there you know what was next that that’s available and then you add in your ACA stuff and the additional services you just went over and it feels like to me there really is a complete like you said on almost your last slide I think a complete program for people to work with. So I do want the audience to note that Lucy’s contact information is right up there in front of you and we have a QR code that will give the brokers who are listening additional resources, so that’s great. So we do have some questions, Ruthie, so let’s see how we can do getting through these. This first one is a two parter, so hang in there with me. Okay. How does Solarix handle ACA for employers with a mix of full time, part time, and variable hour employees? That seems to be where most platforms fall apart. Yeah, that’s a great question. So variable hour employees really are the highest risk ACA population because determining their eligibility requires kind of longitudinal work. You have to get the pay history captured over a period of time. We call that a look back measurement period. That data lives in a separate payroll system that isn’t talking to the platform, then errors are really Embeds like that work history and pay history is just captured natively. It’s already there. There’s no data assembly after the fact. You’re not trying to bring a lot of collection together. And this is really what makes that ninety percent of the data on platform real. The enrollment data that we have is what populates those ten ninety five Cs. We’ve got that through enrollment, through qualifying life events throughout the year. That warnings tab that I showed you in the ACA summary report will surface any of those eligibility issues throughout the year. Like I said, not in February when an IRS notice arrives. We’re proactive and that proactive posture is really the difference between correction and a penalty. And those penalties can get really, really high. We have one who was quoted as saying, ACA reports saved her months of her life. And she called the cost reduction truly substantial. So I think that’s really the key there is that we house all that and we are really made for those complex systems. So it just makes it easy. Well, that sounds like not only are you proactive, you’re transparent. So the information is there, right? Nothing’s hidden. I think that would make it easier for everyone. Right. All right, next question. We have clients who are currently on other platforms and reasonably happy. What’s the actual trigger that should make a broker start a conversation about switching? I love this question, by the way. Yeah, that is good. I like that. So, a couple of things. Let’s start with voluntary benefits participation. So, we have seen with our education that brokers who partner with Solaris are seeing thirty five to forty five percent higher participation in worksite benefits compared to incumbent platforms across the board. That’s a result of a few things. It’s a result of our benefits education videos. It’s a result of that benefits genius. If a client is under participating in the voluntary lines you’re offering, the platform is likely the friction point and not the products. It’s likely that employees aren’t understanding those benefits. Our platform makes sure they understand those benefits. And the way we put those together and explain those together with the medical in BenefitsGenius, we see huge participation increases. So I’d say that’s the first one. Second is our complexity ceiling. We are purpose built for employers with complex systems. Multiple employee populations, union rules, variable pay cycles, mix of core and voluntary. All of these really, you know, like I said, pay not variable pay cycles, variable our employees. This is what we were built for. If they’ve outgrown a small group platform, their company is getting more complex, we are the answer. If they’re running enrollment through a payroll add on, an ADP, a workday, they’re not getting your participation, I guarantee you. So, we’re really built for that complexity. And then third, I’m going say is around the ACA. If you’re managing the ACA through spreadsheets right now and then trying to bring that into another system, your client is having issues. I guarantee it. Not only do we have this amazing system of ACA, we have an entire team of ACA support specialists. I got to spend a week with them last month and to find this team of people who are passionate about ACA, first of all, it’s a little weird, but second of all, that’s amazing that we have people that are passionate about ACA, that we have the people behind the system that are there to support you. So I’m not here saying switch platforms because I know switching platforms is not an easy lift for anyone, but your clients participation and compliance could be so much better. Yeah, that opens the door. Yeah. I have to agree with you. I think there has to be a reason. I think you just gave several of why these brokers and consultants would say to their clients, right, let’s take a look at this at least. So they can do their own comparison. And with that, you brought us almost to the bottom of the hour, Ruthie. So I am going to wrap things up. I want to thank the whole Solarix team. You guys have been great to work with. And again, I encourage people to jot down Lucy’s contact information so you can get in touch directly. For our attendees on the line, we always appreciate you tuning in for our Meet A webinars and want to encourage you to go to the shortlist or platform so you can find this presentation. So with that, we have reached the end of our time together. Again, thank you all for joining us and I would love to see you on the line for our next Meet a Vendor webinar Wednesday, June tenth at one pm Central. Until then, take good care everyone and have a great rest of your day.
